I had the pleasure of meeting Mike last summer at a national teacher conference. He is an amazing educator, maker, and individual who I learned so much from. This past fall I contacted Mike to get some advice on a maker program I was starting at my school. I was so happy to learn then that he had just written this book. Knowing Mike, I had to get it immediately, and I have to say this book is great for anyone interested in learning about the maker movement in an elementary classroom setting. The book starts off with introductory overviews on maker classrooms, questioning, design process, and curriculum. My favorite part of the book comes next in the middle chapters where Mike describes the tools and materials used along with some of the projects his students do. I found myself wanting to know even more about these projects, and I hope Mike will have a follow-up with more details about them. That said...I highly recommend this book as a first read for any educator wanting to know more about incorporating the ideals of the maker movement in their classroom.
